Hour of Code

Next week is Computer Science Education Week, and Hoover High is participating in the global Code.org Hour of Code event.  In class, on Edmodo, Moodle or during advisory this week, please take time to share any of these videos with your students to get them excited about computer science.  Encourage your students to take one hour to code by playing any of these quality programming games from http://learn.code.org/:
Angry Birds Coding Game http://learn.code.org/hoc/1
Puzzle Games that are “unplugged” so no device required http://csedweek.org/unplugged/thinkersmith
Lightbot Game for iOS, Web or Android http://light-bot.com/hoc.html
Grok Tutorial on Python language https://groklearning.com/hoc/
Tynker Build Your Own Game http://code.org/api/hour/begin/tynker
On Twitter, connect with HOC using #hourofcode or follow @codeorg.  Check out all the Hour of Code posters around Hoover High School, and if you have any questions, see our resident Computer Science teacher, Jill Westerlund.  Let’s code, Hoover!

See what some famous people have to say about code and computer science…
