Yesterday a team from Hoover High School visited Florence High School to learn more about their Virtual High School that they have implemented this year. Florence just opened a new Fine Arts Academy and students wanted more flexibility in the day to participate in these classes. To individualize the school day for a variety of students, Florence decided to move some of their core classes and foreign language classes to an online format. They have had success during the past 9 weeks and Hoover is interested in learning more about their model. We too have a variety of students who struggle to fit classes they are interested in taking into the school day. We are always looking to meet the needs of our students and maybe increasing online classes might work for us as well. We are forming a planning team to do more research and to explore the possibilities for Hoover High.
